My next endurance event is going to be an 8-hour race during the Georia Ultra and Trails Runner's "Hot to Trot" on August 2, 2015. Runners will be on a 1.18-mile trail loop in Sweetwater Creek State Park trying to complete as many miles as they can in that time.
A little crazy? Yes. But I think we've all established I'm not your normal trainer (or mom, or runner). Most clients are happy to know that I don't typically encourage this kind of training for everyday fitness, but what I DO tell them is that part of their process should be to do something that's a little scary. Following the insanity that was the Quest for the Crest 50K, the next scariest thing I could think to do was to challenge my mind with the monotony of just a single trail loop over, and over, and over again. Oh yeah, and in August. In Georgia. This time, though, I have a real reason to run. I will be raising money based on however many miles I complete for the Atlanta Underdog Initiative. Below you'll find the details of this fundraiser and the reason I felt such a strong desire to make this run mean a little bit more. I encourage all of you to do the same; to find a reason outside yourself to do what you are doing to fulfill your fitness journey. Whether it's participating in a race for charity or taking extra time to chase the kids around the yard, what your body is capable of goes far beyond its physical boundary. Use your body to move for something you feel passionate about. You may start out trying to get fit and healthy to simply lose weight, but success will ultimately be measured in memories gained. Thank you for taking the time to visit my pledge page, and either making a small contribution or sharing this with friends!
